The Aspire model series is one of the manufacturer's best-known product families. And not without reason: Acer Aspire laptops are available in every conceivable shape and size. Whether for the office, the park, the library or university: The models in the Acer Aspire range cover a variety of application scenarios. Cheaper models entice with low prices and yet sufficient hardware for students or bargain hunters. At the same time, there are virtually no upper limits and even more demanding users will get their money's worth.

Acer offers ultra-slim, stylish, and powerful laptops in its Swift series. Depending on the model, you get a slim ultrabook with narrow display edges, plenty of Intel power and the latest memory technologies - with a total weight of less than two kilograms. However, this also comes at a price. If you can accept a slightly heavier chassis and weaker processors, you will also find what you are looking for on a smaller budget. All of them impress with a long battery life that should last a regular working day.

With the TravelMate series, Acer is specifically targeting entrepreneurs and their employees in the home office. The devices are often equipped with high-performance processors with special security and remote management functions. In line with professional use, they have at least 16 GB RAM and are supplied with Windows 11 Pro versions. Those who like to take their home office to the café or library will easily get through the working day with battery runtimes of over ten hours. With their minimum 15.6-inch displays, the devices in the TravelMate range are not necessarily the handiest, but they never weigh more than two kilograms. For employees in the creative industry, Acer also offers Spin models within this range, which are equipped with a touchscreen and a 360° hinge, allowing you to operate like a tablet (optionally also with pen input).

Acer Predator
Acer is represented in the gaming segment with the Predator model series. These extremely powerful machines can almost compete with desktop PCs and run current games smoothly at the highest details. To achieve this, the models utilize high-performance Intel Core processors together with at least 32 GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards with dedicated graphics memory. However, all this comes at a price. The cheapest Predator laptops are priced at over 1,000 pounds. With their high weight and not exactly space-saving dimensions, the Predator machines from Acer are only suitable for transport to a limited extent. However, if you want to enjoy your games library on the go or use complex software while commuting, this is the right choice.

Acer Nitro
The Nitro series is one of the latest outgrowths of the technology forge and is intended to take gaming to a new level. The expertise from the Predator series is combined with slim, versatile hardware - resulting in portable but powerful gaming laptops. The batteries last a little longer than on Predator models, but you also have to accept a loss of performance. The 15.6- to 17.3-inch displays also score points with a particularly high refresh rate, which not only makes video games, but usage in general, incomparably smoother.

The operating system Chrome OS programmed by search engine giant Google has now attracted the attention of a number of manufacturers. Acer is also giving the Linux-based software a chance and is apparently enjoying success. This is the only way to explain the wide range that the Taiwanese company is now offering. Schools and students in particular are turning to the affordable laptops thanks to the infrastructure designed primarily for collaboration. Acer's Chromebooks are also available as 2-in-1 convertibles to match the qualities of the operating system.

Hardware Used by Acer
Processors
Acer has been using both processors from AMD and Intel in its laptops for many years, but most models are based on Intel platforms. Depending on price and application scenario of the device, both energy-saving low-voltage processors from the Intel Core i U series and more powerful models from the AMD Ryzen and Intel Core processor families with up to 24 processor cores are used. Acer likes to use processors from the Intel Pentium and Intel Celeron series for low-cost devices, which are comparatively slow.
Graphics cards
The graphics are often taken care of by a graphics chip integrated into the processor. There are also numerous Acer laptops with dedicated graphics cards from NVIDIA's GeForce series. Devices equipped with dedicated graphics cards are better suited for gaming and programmes that require high graphics power and can make use of the graphics processor. The Predator series in particular offers laptops with extremely fast graphics cards, which are also suitable for the latest games in high detail levels.
Displays and Resolutions
With display diagonals between 13 and 17.3 inches, Acer offers the right laptop for every application. Whether you are looking for a device for relaxed working in the park or café with a small display and compact dimensions or a laptop that is primarily used as a desktop replacement: There is usually an option in Acer's extensive model range. Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) is now standard in most models, and in the higher price segment there are sometimes even 4K panels (3,840 x 2,160 pixels).
In 2-in-1 convertibles, such as the Spin models, a touchscreen is also integrated into the display, which allows the device to be operated intuitively and opens up new possibilities. Acer supplies the stylus with some models, but finger input is just as effective depending on the display size.
Operating Systems
Microsoft Windows 11 is the dominant operating system for Acer laptops. It is used in almost all of the manufacturer's laptops and is only omitted in some low-cost models in order to be able to set the sales price even lower. Some of these low-cost devices are also supplied with a Linux operating system. The only exceptions are the Chromebooks from Acer, which run Google's Chrome OS.
Acer's Story
Acer is a Taiwanese company that was founded in 1976. Over time, Acer, which is not a huge company with around 7,700 employees, has been able to secure a very good position in both the PC and laptop markets. The decision in 2000 to switch from a computer manufacturer to a design company, which designs the various products but does not produce them itself, was particularly significant. Acer products are then manufactured by outsourced companies on a contract basis. In November 2013, a reorganisation was necessary due to poor financial developments, which resulted in a number of personnel changes.
Apart from laptops, Acer had ventured into the world of smartphones in the past, but had long since given up due to a lack of success. Instead, the manufacturer is focussing on TVs, monitors, projectors and server solutions. Acer is trying to increase its brand awareness even further through sponsorship. Many professional gaming clans play in tournaments under the logo of Acer's Predator series. Between 2003 and 2012, Acer was also a sponsor of the Ferrari Formula 1 team.
In 2008, Acer took over the computer manufacturer Packard Bell, which once held an important position in the laptop and PC sector. The Gateway and eMachines brands are now also part of Acer, but are primarily relevant on the North American market. The European headquarters of the computer company are located in Lugano, Switzerland.
