Efficient business processor
The AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U was announced in mid-2022. The processor is based on the Zen 3+ architecture, with an improved 6 nm manufacturing process and slightly higher clock rates. It clocks from 2.9 GHz in standard mode and 4.5 GHz in turbo mode. Hyperthreading is also supported, which enables computing on 6 cores and 12 virtual threads.

The "U" in the name indicates that the processor has a lower TDP (Thermal Design Power). While the TDP of the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U is between 15 and 25 watts, the TDP of the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650H is 45 watts. Although this makes the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U less powerful, it is also more efficient and can be installed in thinner and lighter devices. With support for DDR5-4800 MHz and LPDDR5-6400 MHz, only the fastest RAM currently available on the market is installed in this processor.

Security features
However, the strength of the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U lies in its features. Additional management functions enable increased security, which is particularly interesting for companies. Additional remote control functions have also been built into this chip to ensure fast and efficient IT support.

With the new AMD Radeon 660M as an internally installed graphics card, many older or less demanding games can be played smoothly at low settings. Image or video editing also works with this graphics card. For demanding video editing or games, a good external graphics card should be considered.

However, due to the processor's focus on light to medium office work, it may be necessary to switch to a different processor. Devices with external graphics cards are not currently available, as the integrated graphics card can easily handle all office tasks.

The ThinkPad model series is mainly aimed at companies with high demands on the physical quality of notebooks. The devices offered are in the average range with a display size between 13 inches (33 cm) and 16 inches (41 cm).
