The AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U was announced in mid-2022. The processor is based on the Zen 3+ architecture, with an improved 6 nm manufacturing process and slightly higher clock rates. It clocks from 2.9 GHz in standard mode and 4.5 GHz in turbo mode. Hyperthreading is also supported, which enables computing on 6 cores and 12 virtual threads.
The "U" in the name indicates that the processor has a lower TDP (Thermal Design Power). While the TDP of the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U is between 15 and 25 watts, the TDP of the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650H is 45 watts. Although this makes the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 6650U less powerful, it is also more efficient and can be installed in thinner and lighter devices. With support for DDR5-4800 MHz and LPDDR5-6400 MHz, only the fastest RAM currently available on the market is installed in this processor.
