ASUS ZenBook
With the ZenBook series, ASUS launched an excellent ultrabook series comparatively early on, which impresses with its slim metal casing, compact dimensions and low weight. With display diagonals between 13 inches and 15 inches, the ZenBooks are ideal for transport. Their high display resolution and modern Intel processors also ensure that you can work effectively with the ZenBook series. ASUS is also experimenting with ZenBooks that have a second display above the keyboard and some laptops also offer dedicated graphics cards from NVIDIA.

ASUS VivoBook
The ASUS VivoBook brand is probably the Taiwanese manufacturer's largest selection, but there are various product lines with some huge differences. The VivoBook Pro, for example, with its dedicated graphics unit is interesting for power users, while the VivoBook Flip with its rotatable display is for students or commuters. The prices vary accordingly.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG)
ASUS has created the Republic of Gamers brand especially for gamers. The large laptops with display diagonals of 15 to 18 inches impress with brute computing power thanks to the latest processors from AMD and Intel. The displays of these devices offer at least Full HD resolution, but the machines score points above all thanks to their fast, dedicated graphics cards from NVIDIA, which make them comparable to desktop machines. With a few exceptions, only high-end models from the GeForce series are used, so that the laptops can also display graphically demanding games in high detail levels and smooth frame rates.

ASUS TUF Gaming
If the ROG laptops are still too dainty for you, you might prefer a gaming machine from the TUF series. Tested in accordance with the military standard MIL-STD 810H, they are designed to withstand all weather conditions and external influences such as dust or physical impacts. Finally, the devices in this model series also have a more military-style design. At the same time, they offer enough power for any current game title, an RGB-illuminated keyboard and a highly developed cooling system. They start already 1,000 pounds.

ASUS ProArt
ASUS also sells mobile workstations under the ProArt model series. With their powerful Intel processors, NVIDIA RTX graphics cards, 16-inch OLED displays and plenty of RAM and fixed memory, the devices in the Studiobook series are aimed at content creators. However, others who want to handle graphics-intensive work with their laptop are also in good hands here.

ASUS Hardware
ASUS always tries to keep pace with the latest technical developments, but never forgets to keep an eye on the aesthetics. The models in the ZenBook series in particular always look quite neat with their metallic finish. What's more, you can always be sure of being spoilt with luxurious details in the flagship family: a leather cover, a fully functional Windows display in the touchpad or even a second screen.
Processors
Cheaper devices such as those in the VivoBook series feature more economical processors, which are designed to guarantee a long battery life in particular. In the mid-range, Intel Core i processors and entry-level chips from the AMD Ryzen series shake hands.
Display and Resolutions
When it comes to the display, it is the more affordable laptops that are most likely to make compromises. However, resolutions such as 1,366 x 768 pixels, which only offer below-average display quality, are increasingly disappearing from the market. The vast majority of ASUS devices are based on Full HD, and there are more and more options for a 4K panel. This naturally has an impact on the price. ASUS also often uses IPS displays, which offer particularly good colour reproduction and a wider viewing angle than TN panels.
Graphics Cards
The tasks of the graphics card are often taken over by the main processor in ASUS laptops. This eliminates the space for a graphics chip on the mainboard and also generates less heat. Last but not least, power consumption is also reduced considerably in some cases. The downside: the graphics performance is rather low and the graphics are barely sufficient for demanding games. A dedicated graphics card (which does not utilise RAM), which is usually supplied by NVIDIA, provides a remedy here. Serious gamers or professional users are best advised to opt for a Republic of Gamers machine.
Memory
ASUS uses fast SSD memory. The fast flash data carrier significantly speeds up system startup, especially due to its short access times and extremely high read speed, and programmes also start much faster. The power consumption of SSD drives is lower and they are significantly less susceptible to external influences.
Operating Systems
When it comes to software, ASUS relies on Microsoft Windows 11 in the Home or Pro version. However, like so many manufacturers, ASUS is not immune to bloatware. The customer must therefore be prepared to encounter a number of unwanted programmes from the very first start, most of which can be safely uninstalled. If it is software from a third-party provider that has nothing to do with ASUS, this rule applies anyway.
The ASUS Story
The Taipei-based hardware manufacturer ASUS was founded in 1989 and is now listed on the Taiwanese stock exchange. With over 10,000 employees, ASUS is one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world. In 2018, the company's turnover totalled 354.2 billion Taiwanese dollars, which corresponds to a value of around 10.5 billion euros.
The company has changed over the years and has always been able to keep up with the competition with its products, whether motherboards, graphics cards or laptops. You really can't accuse ASUS of not being keen to experiment. Innovations have often come from the company itself, such as one of the first netbooks, the PadFone or the modern ScreenPad technology. ASUS was also active in the smartphone segment for a while with the ZenFone, but was unable to really gain a foothold, at least in Germany.
ASUS launched the Green ASUS Initiative back in 2000 to ensure more sustainable use of resources within the computer segment. The ASUS N-series in particular has won numerous awards for the sustainability of its production, including the EU Flower certificate, which is awarded to products that have a low environmental impact throughout their entire product life cycle.
